2020 Rock Hill Aquatic Center Swim Meet

Protocol

 

Rock Hill Aquatics Center, Rawlinson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732

 

Meet Starts:  6:00pm    Warm-Ups:  Home Team 5:00-5:20, Away Team 5:25 – 5:45
Coaches and Captains meeting: 5:50   (one coach, one captain)

 

 

Facility:  10 lane 25 yards
Dual Meet we will run 8 Lanes Tri Meets we will run 9 lanes
Individual events- all lanes
Relays – Odd lanes only

 

Parking:  Buses can drop off swimmers at the rear of the Aquatics Center.  Bus parking is available in the bus lot at Old Pointe Elementary School.  Automobile parking will be available the top gravel lot and the elementary school parking lot.

 

Entrance to the Building:  All humans that enter the building are required to wear a mask at ALL times.  Spectators enter through the brick stairway prior to the front entrance.  All spectators will have to have a COVID-19 YMCA waiver form.  Athletes and coaches enter through the doors behind the diving blocks.  Athletes should be in swim attire as they enter the facility. Locker rooms should be used for the bathroom only.  Volunteers should enter through the back of the facility and pass through the COVID-19 Check station in the Classroom.

 

Seating for athletes:  Athletes will be seated outside in the parking lot closest to the starting blocks.  Athletes are responsible for bringing their own chair to the pool for seating.  ALL athletes must wear a mask while seated on the pool deck.  They do need to remove mask while they go to clerk of course till after their race.  All athletes need to bring water and a snack.

 

Clerk Of Course: Will be held outside of the facility closest to where the starting blocks.  Prior to the event, swimmers need to line up without their mask 8 feet apart.  Swimmers will use the white board to know what event is on next.

 

Events:  Individual events:  All lanes will be used.  Once the swimmer touches the wall, the swimmer will swim a 25 easy (unless there is a medical need) to the other end of the pool.  Swimmers will get out of the pool and walk to the wall, get their breath, then remain socially distant until they are able to get back to their seat to put mask on.

Relays – Will wear masks to the block.  Odd lanes only will be used.  Swimmers will use the markings on the ground to social distance behind the blocks.  Once a swimmer dives, and the other swimmer gets out of the pool, the next swimmer will step up to the block.

After the 25 easy has been completed by the athlete, the swimmers behind the blocks need to be prepared beside the block ready to step up.

 

Entries:  Unlimited entries are allowed for 50’s and 100’s.  Dual meets, limited to 4 entries per 200’s and 500 Free.  Tri Meets limited to 3 entries per 200’s and 500 free. Quad meets, limited to 2 entries per 200’s and 500 Free.   We will run A, B and C relays only. Up to 2 relays can score per team.  Up to 3 number of scoring swimmers per team. No swimmer may be entered more than four events, with a maximum of 2 individual entries per swimmer.  Entries are final 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.  Entries must be submitted by Monday night 7:00pm for Tuesday meets and Wednesday 7:00pm for Thursday meets.  Please email your entries in Hytek by times, or NT to bbaker@rhmail.org.

REMEMBER:.  If your fastest swimmers have NT they will be in the slowest heat, please keep this in mind!

 

Scoring: Points awarded as follows (in accordance with NFHS rules): 6-4-3-2-1 and relays 8-4-2


 

Volunteers:  Please see last page of this document.  Please submit the last page (cut and paste into email) to sneilbarnes@aol.com and copy bbaker@rhmail.org two days prior to the event.  Stroke and Turn judges names need to be submitted to scottjones@comporium.net 2 days prior to the event. All volunteers and referees should enter through the back of the aquatic center.   All volunteers and referees are subject to temperature scans and COVID-19 clearance questions prior to the entering the pool deck in the classroom.

 

Team Conduct:  Swimmers are to remain physically distant from each other during the meet and maintain wearing a mask unless they are on their way for an event.  We ask that swimmers stay at their assigned team area.  Each team is responsible for the conduct of their swimmers, for clean up of the team’s designated area, and any damages to the facilities caused by their team.

 

Spectators:  Admission will be $5 for adults, and $2 for students.  All sales will be online.  By purchasing a ticket for a meet hosted at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center, you are also signing an agreement that the Rock Hill Aquatic Center and Rock Hill School District 3, is not responsible for your health before, during, or after the event.  Spectators will enter via the brick stairs to the left before you get to the main entrance of the facility.  Heat Sheet will be posted online.  All spectators are restricted to the bleachers.  All spectators will be responsible for remaining social distance protocol.  Using the marked spaces on the bleachers to sit by family.  We will house less than 25% of the spectator facility.  No flash photography is allowed at the start of each race. Chairs and coolers are not allowed in the spectator area.   Glass bottles are not allowed in the Aquatics Center.  All spectators will exit the facility using the door to the main lobby and down the ramp.

 

Additional Information:

Warm Up Warm Down – There will be NO warm up warm down lane
1 person per lane counter during the 500 Free

2 timers per lane – take an average of the time

 

Inclement Weather:  If the weather becomes a concern, and thunder is in the area.  All spectator, athletes, and parent volunteers will return to their cars.  For any swimmers that are dropped off and have no car to get in, they will remain in the hallway in the facility.  Coaches will also remain in the facility to make necessary decisions.
