Mother Nature is a really big fan of the LTFC, the Northwestern Lady Trojans. For the second straight game, the mystical deity showed up in magnificent force, this time bringing along a stiff breeze and amazingly powerful wind gusts. And anyone else who showed up was treated to an amazingly great game between two relatively evenly matched squads.
The small confines of the pitch combined with the speed of both teams meant a lot of small battles between players turned into larger scaled combat as other players joined in the fray. The Lady Trojans put in two goals in the first half. The first came on a beautiful through ball and the second goal was generated from a free kick that bounced off the head of one of the defenders and got past the goalie. Those scores were the only ones generated in the first half, giving the Trojans a 2 nil lead halfway through.
The two teams played even ball in the second half until Byrnes finally put one in at the 76th minute. At this point in the game, the Rebels were controlling possession and the Lady Trojans were back firmly on their heels. Despite this, the visitors held on for the final four minutes to secure the victory, a 2 to 1 win.
